Key Responsibilities


The VP, Global Cloud and Enterprise Architecture is a senior technology leader responsible for defining and governing the enterprise-wide technology architecture and cloud strategy. This role ensures that cloud platforms, enterprise architecture, and technology standards enable business strategy, scalability, security and innovation across the global organization.

 

Enterprise Architecture Leadership & Strategy

  • Evolve the global enterprise cloud and architecture strategy, aligning to business objectives
  • As the principal architectural authority for major technology initiatives, ensure adherence to enterprise standards, promote reusability, and seamless integration across systems
  • Develop a three-year technology architecture strategy and roadmap, balancing innovation with technical debt reduction
  • Lead the architectural governance function through the Global Architecture Review Board and regional design councils
  • Champion cloud-native architectures, microservices, containerization, API-first design, event-driven architectures, and serverless computing patterns 
  • Maintain compliance with IATA, GDPR, CCPA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, implementing comprehensive risk assessment processes
  • Establish architectural resilience and business continuity frameworks ensuring critical systems meet stringent requirements
  • Lead initiatives to reduce vendor lock-in, increase modularity, and enhance organizational agility


Cloud Platforms & Platform Engineering

  • Lead the global cloud strategy and champion Azure as the primary cloud platform
  • Establish and govern the standard cloud foundation across all accounts and subscriptions
  • Own the platform catalogue and ensure clear ownership, service level objectives, and an intake process for platform services
  • Drive M365/O365 platform and identity services, including direct ownership of the cloud workloads
  • Lead multi-cloud rationalization efforts, unifying identity and policy plane


Reliability, Observability & Resilience Engineering

  • Define service level objectives and error budgets for all platform services
  • Establish alert policy, incident tooling, and event routing and enrichment capabilities that integrate with the global ITSM framework
  • Own recovery tiers, playbooks, drill exercises, and capacity planning for cloud services, ensuring proven RTO/RPO targets for tier-one services
  • Drive the evolution to proactive operations, SLO-driven capacity planning with AIOps detection and auto-remediation for top faults


Global FinOps

  • Lead the Global FinOps function with tagging policy, optimization programmes, commitment strategy, etc.
  • Deliver executive cost and optimization dashboards, aligned to business unit scorecards
  • Ensure 100% cost transparency across all cloud spend and partner with regional FinOps Business Partners across regions to drive cost accountability at the business unit level


Identity & Policy Enforcement

  • Own privileged access management, workload identities, and policy controls in partnership with Global Cyber Security
  • Support the consolidation of identity using Microsoft Entra ID with consistent policies applied through Conditional Access, MFA, and role-based administration


Strategic Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Advise senior business and technology leaders; Provide executive-level counsel to the SVP and senior leadership team
  • Integrate with Global Support for incident and change, Regional IT Operations for site-level execution, and Corporate Systems for application alignment
  • Deliver service readiness with contacts, playbooks, and clear handoffs to Global Support and Regional IT Operations

Key Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline required
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Technology Management, or related field strongly preferred
  • Relevant professional certifications highly valued: TOGAF 9.2, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Google Cloud Professional Architect
  • 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience with minimum 7-10 years in senior architectural or cloud infrastructure roles with proven P&L or significant budget responsibility
  • Enterprise Architecture: Deep expertise across multiple architectural domains including enterprise, solution, data, security, and infrastructure architecture, with proven track record establishing governance frameworks and architectural standards at enterprise scale
  • Cloud Transformation: Substantial experience leading large-scale cloud migration and modernization initiatives, with hands-on expertise in Azure (primary) and at least one additional major cloud platform (AWS, GCP)
  • Platform Engineering: Proven track record of building internal platform-as-a-product organizations, including landing zones, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and self-service provisioning
  • FinOps Leadership: Demonstrated experience establishing cloud financial management disciplines including cost allocation, showback/chargeback, optimization programmes, and executive reporting
  • Global Operations: Proven track record managing geographically distributed teams of 20+ professionals across multiple time zones and cultural contexts, with specific experience operating in EMEA, APAC, and The Americas
  • Aviation, transportation, logistics, or field operations sector experience preferred with understanding of operational technology environments and 24/7/365 operational requirements
  • M&A Integration: Experience with mergers and acquisitions technology integration, having successfully harmonized architectural approaches across combined entities
  • Enterprise Architecture Frameworks: Mastery of TOGAF 9.2; familiarity with Zachman, DoDAF, or similar frameworks highly valued; proficiency with architectural modelling tools (Sparx Enterprise Architect, ArchiMate, Visio, LucidChart)
  • Cloud Platforms: Expert-level knowledge of Azure cloud services (primary), including compute, storage, networking, identity, security, and data services; strong working knowledge of AWS and/or GCP
  • Platform Engineering: Deep expertise in infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM), container orchestration (Kubernetes, AKS/EKS), CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps delivery models
  • Identity & Security: Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, privileged access management, zero-trust architectures, and policy-as-code frameworks
  • Data Architecture: Strong foundation in data architecture principles including data governance, master data management, data lakes/warehouses, real-time analytics, and AI/ML platforms
  • Observability & SRE: Strong foundation in observability platforms, SLO/error budget management, AIOps, and site reliability engineering practices
  • M365 & Collaboration Platforms: Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 platform services, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, and Defender for Endpoint in the context of global enterprise operations
  • FinOps: Working knowledge of cloud cost management tools, tagging strategies, commitment management (reserved instances, savings plans), and unit economics modelling
